The Book

bookcoverHealthy Body, Healthy Weight, Healthy Mind

Would you like to find the root causes of your problems rather than take tablets for the symptoms?

Cutting edge research over the last decade reveals that a few simple changes can transform your life; preventing, and reversing, many chronic disorders like Type 2 diabetes, Obesity, Thyroid problems, Cardiovascular disease and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Even disorders like Alzheimer’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis are now recognised as having an environmental input.
Science is now proving that the root cause of many disorders lies in lifestyle factors, including stress, poor gut health and food triggers. It is often a combination of lifestyle factors, rather than just one, that leads to health problems, and we are all unique; so this book explains how to find your root causes of your health problems by addressing all potential problem areas in five easy steps.

You will learn how the food you eat, and the products you use, can change your DNA from disease-giving to health-giving, and how your gut bacteria can save your life. I used my research skills in human medical genetics and law, and discovered the revolutionary way to achieve a healthy body, healthy weight and healthy mind, free of chronic disease; in five easy steps.

My acid reflux disappeared after three days and my IBS also disappeared. I am hypothyroid and after following the advice in the book my thyroid antibodies were drastically reduced. A fantastic book – it has worked wonders for me.

I find your book facinating and captivating. It made so much sense and I have joined up so many of the dots about our health and wellbeing. When I heard about your talk last November at THiNK I felt compelled to attend. I am so glad I did.
Your book has given me so much more than I imagined and I felt that you were talking to me personally in such a kind and non judgemental way. I also loved the way you used and presented a lot of science and studies to back up what you are saying in a way that was not overwhelming. I thank God for you in this world. X

5.0 out of 5 stars Achieving Healthy Body, Healthy Weight, Healthy Mind 17 Nov. 2016

Even though the title declares “Five Easy Steps” don’t make the mistake of dismissing this book as a lightweight pamphlet. Susie Bailey explains, “The purpose of this book is to achieve a healthy body, healthy weight and healthy mind.”

In the process of helping her mother recover from illness, she utilized her research skills to read and organize three thousand medical papers into a working plan that helped her mother and herself find relief from multiple chronic conditions.
In order to understand illness, the author helps us understand the body and its systems. This book is clear and concise as it lays a foundation starting with an overview of genes and DNA, through digestion, the immune system, gut bacteria, and the brain. We see the body and its systems, and how and why things may be malfunctioning.

Finally in chapter 17 we find the plan to achieve a healthy body, healthy weight, healthy mind: “Five Easy Steps – a quick guide”.
1. Heal the gut using diet, prebiotics, probiotics and possibly some supplements. Re-inoculate your gut microbiome.
2. Take measures to sustain the healthy gut – remove the food triggers, feed the healthy microbiome, take supplements where needed.
3. Remove triggers other than food (where possible) to restore your gut to health.
4. Remove stress (and how to achieve this). Avoid non-food triggers where possible.
5. Take steps to get enough sleep and exercise, and manage stress.

The author encourages readers to connect the dots in their own lives and “to remember is that all the different systems in your body are linked, and communicate with one another.”
There are hundreds of different plans and diets to achieve the five steps. The author includes her personal protocol as an example.
I am very familiar with several popular nutritional plans: paleo, gluten-free, low-carb, raw, vegan, and others. So I am familiar with many of the health concepts presented in this book. Nonetheless, I enjoyed how this book provides a good understanding of the body basics without avoiding basic scientific facts or terminology. It helped me reinforce the information I had gathered from my reading and several recent webinars. I would recommend this book for anyone on a journey of discovery about the health of family members or of themselves.

I was so excited to receive a copy of Susie’s book in the post, but only a day or so after it arrived, my mum swiped it, and hasn’t put it down since. A credible sign that it’s a fantastic read, since my mum doesn’t usually find the time to sit down with a book. She’s reported it to be extremely informative, and very easy to follow for someone who doesn’t have a background in science, but has an interested in health.
I’ll have to wait and see for myself.
Unfortunately she’s a slow reader!
